Studying in the UK

A different way of learning

Talented students often find their first UK marks lower than they expected. It's rarely about ability — it's about adjusting to a new set of expectations.
  1. 1

    Independent study comes first

Contact hours are often lower than students expect. Much of your learning happens in self-directed reading, and knowing how to structure that time matters.

  2. 2

    Argument over memory

UK markers reward critical analysis — weighing evidence and building an argument — far more than repeating what the lecture said.

  3. 3

    Referencing is non-negotiable

Every idea that isn't yours must be credited in the right style. Small mistakes can be treated as poor academic practice.

FAQs

Academic support questions

Browse all FAQs

Can you write my assignment for me?

No. Writing assessed work for a student is academic misconduct and can lead to serious penalties, including losing your place. Our tutors help you understand the material, plan your work and improve your own writing — the work you submit is always yours.

Is academic support confidential?

Yes. Your sessions, documents and questions stay between you, your tutor and our team. We never share them with your university or anyone else without your permission.

Are sessions online or in person?

Most sessions run online by video call, which makes it easy to fit them around lectures, part-time work and different time zones. In some cities, in-person sessions can be arranged.

How quickly can I start?

Usually within a few days of your enquiry, depending on your subject and tutor availability. If you have a deadline coming up, tell us when it is so we can prioritise the match.

Can you help me improve my academic English?

Yes. Tutors can work with you on academic vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraphing and presenting an argument clearly — skills that improve every piece of work you write.
